The Beach

The beach is a short walk away from the campsite and is sheltered on either side by the heavily wooded cliffs of Porthminister Point and Hawke’s Point. This creates the ideal spot for safe swimming as it is usually very calm and sheltered. Close by there are plenty of local surf beaches which will cater for all abilities and a few top secret spots! For more details about this please visit our camping holidays Cornwall page. At the beach you will find the car park conveniently placed and the toilets and snacks bars close by.
At Carbis Bay the golden sands stretch for approximately one mile. At low tide they connect with the neighbouring Porthkidney Sands, an RSPB bird sanctuary beach. For a longer stroll you can set out to this delightful neighbouring beach. Please check the tide table before you go, we always advise caution when exploring these areas in case you become cut off by the tide. The coastal path does connect up between these beaches so you can stroll back along the cliffs. Please ask our advice as we have a wealth of local knowledge to help you.
Local Area
The neighbouring tourist resort of St Ives provides a vibrant location to visit for shopping, cafes and art galleries. Enjoy a daytrip to St Ives by railway, arguably one of the most scenic and picturesque ways to visit this neighbouring town. The South West Coast Path draws many visitors as it runs through the village and has the distinction of being the longest national trail in the United Kingdom.
